2420 Overview

The Avaya 2400 series adds several enhancements over previous generations of digital telephones. These include paperless button labeling, local call log and speed dial directories and streamlined styling consistent with Avaya IP telephones. There are currently three models in the 2400 series: the entry-level 2402 Digital Telephone, the mid-level 2410 Digital Telephone, and the high-performance 2420 Digital Telephone.

The Avaya 2402 is a cost effective two-wire digital phone, for many office applications. It is designed to complement the 2410 mid-level and 2420 executive telephones. The 2402 has a 2-line x 24-character display with two label-less call appearances, a Listen-Only Speaker, 10 Fixed Feature Keys: Conference, Transfer, Drop, Redial, Speaker, Message, Hold, Mute, Volume Up & Down, and Feature (to access 12 additional dial pad features). The 2402 is Hearing Aid Compatible, has a Message Waiting Indicator that flashes when ringing, eight Personalized Ring Patterns and is either desk or wall mountable.

The Avaya 2410 is a flexible display telephone with several capabilities such as local call log and speed dial not available on previous generations of digital telephones. It has a 5 x 29 display with 12 label-less call appearances (in two screens); full-duplex speakerphone, 14 fixed feature keys, four softkeys, 12 shifted feature buttons, large message waiting indicator, headset jack, local language customization, eight Personalized Ring Patterns and is either desk or wall mountable.

The Avaya 2420 Digital Telephone sports an array of convenient features, while supporting expansion capabilities and effective integration with current infrastructure investments. This telephone provides a large-scale display for easy viewing and call control with 24 call appearance/feature buttons. Administration and ongoing maintenance is simplified as the switch automatically performs key/button labeling. This eliminates the time-consuming and laborious task of using paper labels to denote phone features, and reduces costs when moving phones among users or offices. Online access to electronic downloads gives near-instant access for key product upgrades and feature enhancements as they occur. Additional features such as call logging and a speed-dial directory help enhance overall productivity by giving providing users with the tools needed for more effective call tracking and faster outbound calling capabilities.

Two-wire DCP port circuit pack The connectivity in any Avaya gateway requires a two-wire DCP port.

1XU (EU24) Expansion Module If this expansion module is used with the 2420 Digital Telephone, it requires an additional power supply with or without battery back-up.

Software Requirements

Avaya Communication Manager
For the 2400 Series Digital Telephones to work, they must be connected to a solution running Avaya Communication Manager. These terminals do not function when directly connected to an outside line.

Avaya 2410/2420 - Easy Button Access The 2410/2420 telephones are designed with 12/24 system call appearance/feature buttons. They include four local softkey feature buttons, Exit, Previous, and Next buttons for display navigation, a Message button for expedited access to voicemail, and several fixed feature buttons along with a highly visible Message Waiting Indicator for effective message notification.	Increased deployment flexibility and easy user experience. The navigation and button options make a wide range of capabilities accessible with the touch of a button.
Avaya 2410/2420 - Call Log Provides automated call tracking with a 48-entry (2410) or 100-entry (2420)call log that records incoming answered, incoming unanswered, and outgoing calls. The call log can also be used to populate the Speed Dial Directory.	Users can place and track telephone activity through the use of call Log information, which provides detailed call tracking and can improve employee productivity.
Avaya 2410/2420 � Speed Dial Directory In addition to the system directory, the Avaya 2410 and 2420 Digital Telephones provide access to a speed-dial directory with the capacity to store up to 48 (2410) or 104 (2420) speed-dial numbers for quick access to the numbers most used.	This separate speed-dial application enables more of the 2420 feature buttons to be used for actual features rather than being dedicated to automatic dialing.
Avaya 2402 � Extension download to phone With the 2402, the phone's extension is downloaded to it, simplifying system administration requirements. The extension is shown on the display when the phone is on-hook.	Can lower total cost of ownership by simplifying administration and reducing the time required to set up extensions.

Avaya 2420 - Call Center Mode The standard display settings can be changed from eight to 12 call appearance/feature button labels. In this mode, the bottom line of the screen display, which is used for softkey labels in standard mode, can contain four more call appearance/feature buttons with shortened labels. Avaya 2410/2420- Investment Protection with Downloadable Upgrades. The Avaya 2410 and 2420 Digital Telephones offers a common platform suitable for both general business and call center needs. Downloadable firmware (flashware), provides quick, reliable upgrades for future enhancements.	Investment protection is provided through a downloadable upgrade program.
Easy Moves, Adds and Changes System managers can perform maintenance, moves, and changes with ease because the 2400 series part IDs and serial numbers are electronically stored. When used in conjunction with the Avaya Automatic Customer Telephone Rearrangement, this feature enables you to unplug, move, and plug in your telephone at a new location without requiring technician/system administration involvement. Avaya 2420 - Flexible Options Enterprises can extend basic 2420 capabilities with the 1XU (EU24), an expansion module with 24 call appearance/feature buttons.
