NCR has long been an
industry leader in the mid-volume image item
processing market. We know you want speed,
capacity, availability, ease-of use, and
performance. And we've provided it.
But now
the best-in-class...just got better.
Checks and remittances aren't going away. So
we built new technology that processes more
items faster and with fewer errors than ever
before.
Introducing the NCR iTRAN 8000-a new generation
transport-designed to deliver for now and the
future.
Overview
What is iTRAN?
iTRAN 8000 is a high-throughput imaging
transport designed to handle a wide variety of
document conditions in a mid to high volume
processing environment. Offering the best
of today's technologies and built on a foundation
of our experience and expertise, the NCR
iTRAN 8000 delivers superior reliability, increased
availability, enhanced ergonomics, and improved
user interface.
Who is iTRAN 8000 Designed for? The NCR iTRAN 8000 is the transport of choice
for banks, financial institutions, data centers,
utilities, and other companies that process
significant volumes of checks each day. Built
to complement the existing line of NCR mid-volume
offerings, iTRAN 8000 supports a variety
of image item processing applications, including:
proof of deposit
sorting
power encoding
reject repair
returned item processing
image-based re-pass capture
distributed capture
remittance processing
ATM balancing
iTRAN 8000 Benefits
High Reliability
Every aspect of the NCR iTRAN 8000 has been designed
to process items quickly and easily, with
a goal of improving overall throughput. In
addition to increasing the track speed to 600
DPM (documents per minute), iTRAN 8000's availability
rating is an impressive 98.7%, substantially
higher than other transports in the market
today, which translates into lower costs per
item and a superior return on investment.
Serviceability
The easier it is to service the transport, the
higher its availability, the lower its
maintenance rate, and the more volume you can
process. NCR has incorporated a number of
serviceability aids to keep downtime to a bare
minimum. For example, the transport controller
collects real-time performance data and keeps an
ongoing record of transport activities, which
are then summarized and available for viewing
through a user-friendly interface. Help-based
diagnostics are also available for a service
engineer to quickly and effectively isolate
problems.
Preparing Your Bank for the Check 21
Processing Environment and Beyond
The NCR iTRAN 8000's capabilities allow your bank
to go beyond compliance with Check 21
Legislation. It ensures your bank is creating
high quality images and taking advantage of
the future-check image exchange and truncation,
by using the latest in image capture technlogy
and quality assessment tests.
Features and Benefits
iTRAN 8000 is easy to install and its
feature-rich technology means you get the latest
advances. And that translates into greater
accessibility, faster recoveries, lower cost of
ownership, and improved performance. Take a look
at the numerous features that iTRAN 8000 offers,
making image item processing a smoother and more
productive operation.
Workstation and Operator Interface
iTRAN 8000 is a stand-up imaging unit designed
for a semi-attended environment. Its flat LCD
touch screen is easy to access and offers high
resolution. The sculptured top offers better
leaning surfaces and there is more work and
storage space throughout. A footrest provides
posture relief and reduces back stress.
Document Feeding
iTRAN 8000's high performance hopper holds up to
2500 documents. It incorporates a double-feed
detect mechanism, hand-drop feeder, merge feeder
that holds up to 150 items, and a short-item
outsort, all designed to increase transport
throughput by decreasing misfeeds, jams, and
interrupts.
Reading
Using highest quality imaging technology, the
NCR iTRAN 8000 offers capabilities for MICR,
dual MICR, OCR or MICR/OCR combinations. The
MICR reader can read either one or two lines
of characters in either E13B or CMC7. The OCR reader can
read up to three lines of characters in 10
different fonts.
Optional software, Enhance Codeline
Recognition (ECR), can be added to optimize MICR
and OCR data to provide a "best read" result.
Imaging
iTRAN 8000 utilizes the latest imaging
technology. The highly reliable LED-based light
bar illuminates documents to be imaged and lasts
far longer (five years or better) than
traditional halogen lamps, produces more
consistent images with less heat and noise, and
requires fewer components. To obtain better
image quality, iTRAN 8000s contain larger image
buffers (512Kb) and advanced digital camera
technology delivers better image qaulity,
greater consistency, and higher resolutions.
Upstream and downstream imaging options
are supported.
Additionally, NCR's WiseIP (Windows
Integrated Services Environment for Item
Processing) provides advanced Image Quality
Assessmnet (IQA) functions and NCR performas
tests that meet or exceed ANSI image quality
standards. Enhanced NCR testing enables iTRAN
trnasports to out-sort suspect documents and
minimize workflow complications. In order to
faciliatate end-users to establish effective IQA
tests, NCR provides extensive user-friendly
tools for analyzing and reporting image qulity.
Encoding
The NCR iTRAN 8000's versatile design offers
reliable high-speed encoding for all processing needs,
power encode or full-field encode, and it
can be disabled when not required. Using proven
impact encoding technology and dual encoders,
it provides accurate, high-quality encoding
of E13B and CMC7 fonts at full track speed
(600 DPM). Error detection and built-in redundancy
keep items moving and minimize jams. And for
applications that do not include encoding, such
as reader/sorter processing, a stager can
be ordered in place of the encoder.
Endorsing
Using the latest ink-jet technology, the iTRAN
8000 supports up to 4 lines of standard text
endorsemennt and offers full graphics
capability: use of programmable bit-map graphics
enable users to simulate logo endorsement.
During installation, the endorsement height can
be selected at one of three positions. The
Graphical Endorser is user friendly, reliable
and requires minimal operator maintenance.
MICR Verifying
The NCR iTRAN 8000 provides a MICR reader
downstream from the encoder to verify that the
encoder is working correctly. The MICR verifier
sends MICR data to the application so it
can check for mismatched characters and rejects.
Sorting
iTRAN 8000's robust pocket design maximizes
operator effectiveness and eliminates sorting
errors. There are 4 pockets per module, to a
maximum of 10 modules, and they can hold up to
350 documents each. Each pocket contains sensors
to detect errors as well as pocket empty and
pocket full conditions. There are also software
programmable indicator lights to signal
operators as to which pocket needs attention. To
minimize operator movement the pockets can be
programmed to automatically restart or the
operator can initiate the restart by pressing a
button.
Software Environment
The default application software platform loaded
on each controller PC is NCR's WiseIP. WiseIP
provides a common toolset and transport
interface designed to simplify the application
development process. It also provides operators
with an easy-to-use interface in a Windows NT
environment.
Application Software
NCR, together with its many Solution Partners
offers a wide array of imaging solutions,
including Image Capture, POD, Image Archive,
Remittance Processing, Reject Repair, Return
Items, and ATM Balancing.
